myrtle & lace

These wallets are ever so sweet and very urban.

“Myrtle and Lace is the creation of New Zealand born designer Regina Stroombergen [a lovely little lady I attended design school with]. Formed in 2008 the brand started off by making one of a kind wallets out of vintage fabrics and has moved into limited edition pieces using both vintage and new materials including silks and cottons from around the world. Many of Myrtle and Lace’s designs take influence from the past and give this feel off throughout its themes, promotional materials and fabric choices.”

Keep a close eye on movements here.

1 dress, 365 days

The uniform project- 1 dress 365 days, always a new look.

“The Uniform Project is also a year-long fundraiser for the Akanksha Foundation, a grassroots movement that is revolutionizing education in India. At the end of the year, all contributions will go toward Akanksha’s School Project to fund uniforms and other educational expenses for children living in Indian slums.”

Check it out and donate, what an awesome project!

charcole

My cousin is starting out her new label Charcole here in NZ. There are some pics from her first collection; very stree, almost punk yet versatile and can easily be dressed up or down. Kepp an eye on this young lady here as she has got a lot to come!.

floral and sweet with a hint of sparkle

Last week I was in Sydney for one of my best friend's 30th. I wasn't over there for shopping but I did spot this beautiful dress. It was a little out of my price range so I took a picture thinking I could make it... humm dreams are free :) (It's a rubbish picture but I had to take it sneakly as the shop assistant was watching me and I didn't dare try it on as I was scared that I may remove my credit card for an emergency buy .) It reminded me of the jacket that Carry wears to visit Charlotte in hospital when Rose is born.
Seeing this picture today also reminded me of it as it's so pretty and girly. I really have to find something to wear to a young farmers ball I have in a couple of weeks. I think I may end up making something... but ahh there is never enough time....

and then i saw this... if i was to get married tomorrow I would wear this. It's so me. Oh and I would make it look way better than this girl :) naughty i know

opening weekend

The first weekend of May means one thing and one thing only back on the farm. Duck shooting season begins. Everything is put on hold this weekend; rugby is missed, relief milkers are organised and sleep is postponed. Mum spends the days leading up to opening morning baking and cooking so the boys have enough to eat while they camp out in the mi-mis down by the river waiting for the sun to rise and the birds to fly.

My brother Crutch and his girlfriend Steph have a new puppy, Teal the newest addition to their family (now 4 Labradors).

She is so beautiful and ran around the deck smelling and playing with the dead ducks while they are being plucked.

It seems I have officially become a city girl as my hand for plucking is a bit rusty and I don’t take to it quiet as well as the others anymore. I’m more interested in the beautiful colours of the feathers and how they illuminate in the morning sunshine.

Kendall Berry, my kid sister had a photography assignment to do around surrealism. So we did a bit of a shoot...Slightly disturbing... More pics on the farmer’s daughters.
