out for mainteinance

Sorry no Tuesday crunch post this week as we heart it is down  So I explored flickr and found the 254th image from the unloads of the day instead.

This image reminds me of the water lilies in Thailand. I still haven’t sorted through those photos... opps. So here are a couple.

I also wanted to share this other cute image from Jueno [Ricee]’s stream. I think I like it because it reminds me of home and how I miss having animals around me.

being a home maker

I was emailed this cut out from the 50’s after I mentioned that I spent my weekend doing wholesome things; cleaning, baking, cooking, sewing and crafts. I may have also mentioned my love for ironing... probably not wise when working in an office...

My old flat mate and I use to joke about how we would love to be house wives, but only out of choice. If we were ever told we had to be we would through our iron’s aside and march into the work force J I can’t believe this kind of thing was actually in a magazine, it seems ridiculous.

Ah the small things

A couple of little things that I enjoyed on the weekend and put a smile on my face.

1- Seeing my $8 rip off shoes I got for Thailand in Overlands for $ 100. Everything is exactly the same except the brand on the inner sole. Ah I love the way my pretty white shoes look in the grass. I feel like a kid again, so giddy with silliness and filled with joy.

2- The comforting Autumn clouds. They are always so full and crisp against the tinkling, streaming sun light at this time of year.

I hope you all had lovely moments like these in your weekends xxx Ah the small things

opening weekend

The first weekend of May means one thing and one thing only back on the farm. Duck shooting season begins. Everything is put on hold this weekend; rugby is missed, relief milkers are organised and sleep is postponed. Mum spends the days leading up to opening morning baking and cooking so the boys have enough to eat while they camp out in the mi-mis down by the river waiting for the sun to rise and the birds to fly.

My brother Crutch and his girlfriend Steph have a new puppy, Teal the newest addition to their family (now 4 Labradors).

She is so beautiful and ran around the deck smelling and playing with the dead ducks while they are being plucked.

It seems I have officially become a city girl as my hand for plucking is a bit rusty and I don’t take to it quiet as well as the others anymore. I’m more interested in the beautiful colours of the feathers and how they illuminate in the morning sunshine.

Kendall Berry, my kid sister had a photography assignment to do around surrealism. So we did a bit of a shoot...Slightly disturbing... More pics on the farmer’s daughters.
