memoirs of a geisha

How beautiful! After watching it, it made me want to be a geisha, well besides the prostitution bit. But other than that I must say it is rather glamorous. I also fell in love with Japan. I always envisaged Japan as being filled with sky scrapers and neon lights, which I’m sure a lot of it is. But in the movie it looked so beautiful, cherry blossoms everywhere, beautiful silks, cobbled paths and interesting hair designs.

My favourite scene was early on in the movie when she is still a little girl and she first meets the Chairman (isn’t it funny that his man is just chairman). The scene is so lovely and chipper; flowers everywhere, snow, treats from a side cart. So dreamy...

Considering the events I thought the movie was lacking emotion. I haven’t read the book but would imagine that like most books that are made into movies that it is a lot better. But overall worth a look, it’s more eye candy than anything.

family fame

My cousin Charlie recently finished design school and has started making her name in the big wide world. The other day one of her jackets from her final collection was featured in M2 magazine. It was featured along with pieces from World and Zambiesi. I’m very impressed! This is one lady to keep an eye on!

i want a roof top garden too

I can across this via {frolic} today. Wow! I so want a roof top garden like this! The house is pretty amazing as well. The perfect weekend get-away; right next to the water, so plain and simple. I want to be there now and not be in the city with it’s clouds and greyness!

a year in review

The cherry blossom girl has just hit the two year mark with her blog. She has done a visual review for the past year. All the collages are so lovely that it was hard to pick so by default I choose April as that’s when my birthday is. I’m excited to see what she has planned over the next year!

this is girly

Headpieces and underwear, I’m in love with them both, hhhhot!

flack tack

I have been flat tack this week so didn’t get around to the Tuesday crunch post. So I have done it today. I initially just wanted to have a closer look at this picture when I visited today but when I went to return to the image I really wanted it has disappeared. There for I felt like had to put his one up otherwise it wouldn’t truly be from pg 254 and I don’t like to break the constraints I have created.
Also I have to agree with this image. As much as I love my life and I never have enough time to do all the things I want, I would never like to live forever! I think this is because I my laziness would get in the way, I would constantly be putting things off; I work better with deadlines like the end of my life. But I would like to point out that is not a reason to start smoking! Yuck!

the tension eases

Auckland HDR Timelapse from Diego on Vimeo.

It is known that there is a bit of tension between Auckland and wellington. However recently i have been spending a bit of time up that way and started to warm to the place. This is a lovely video of the city.
