truely girly

This image reminds me of childhood and therefore home. I am also really looking forward to spending some time at home this summer, sitting by the lake, reading on the freshly cut grass, playing on the tree swing and having continuous high tea under the trees.

indie film fest

I saw this article on frankie the other day about the bondi film festival. It is accepting indie films from the public. Oh i would love to go... (hint hint)

longing for summer

Winter has been getting most people down (I’m usually one of those people as i long for summer before it even ends). However this year I’ve been pretty good, until today... I saw these pics of my cuzy’s and started longing for the hot summer days and the beautiful, magical light. Yum!

pints, blankets and sunshine

Next Saturday (28th of February) is Wellington’s First Beer Festival. It is going to be held at Waitangi Park from 10am till 4pm. It will be a stunning beer garden experience with over 20 breweries presenting 70 Beers with a wide range of predominantly New Zealand beers with a few notable overseas visitors. I will be there presenting some of those overseas visitors, pouring Hoegaarden and Leffe Blonde, so bring your blankets and sun umbrellas and pop down for a few pints.

Tickets are available from iticket at $25 each.

See you there.

another stunner

Another stunning end to a lovely weekend. Every evening the sunsets are just so individual. Reflecting in the water of the Kapiti coast and lighting up the clouds. Simply gorgeous !

And these are some pics taken by my friends Meikle. Thanks bud.

Wellington check it out.

There is nothing like wellington on a good day they say. Well the city council has set up a big billboard on the corner of Manners Mall and Cuba Street. It is advertising
summer in the city and all the great things there is to do. If you can’t get to the mighty board you can check out the pdf version here.

One of my friends is trying to get me to join her work’s dragon boat racing team. While I’m sure this will absolutely destroy my arms I am rather excited by the new challenge, eewwk

floating on a cloud

While the weather couldn’t make up it’s mind this weekend (which really annoyed me as my tan is disappearing) it actually proved rather interesting producing lots of lovely clouds, allowing me to float away with them as I sat in the spa drinking bubbly.

Ah ha that explains while my body and mind aren’t communicating today. Good bye Sunday, Happy Monday darlings.

our not so secret garden

I love coming home to the farm, but I especially love going home just before Christmas because the garden looks beautiful. The hydrangeas are bursting to the brim, the miniature roses creep along the roof top and the lilies spanning in all colours of the rainbow stand tall and proud, soaking in the all the sunshine while they tinkle their toes in the lake edge. And everywhere I turn there are flowers.
I secretly pretend I’m in the movie the Secret Garden. (Because secretly I actually believe my life is a movie*) There are pretty colours everywhere and when I search a little it is not long before I come across evidence of a friendly creature or two.

*I was informed the other day that this is an actual disorder call the Truman Syndrome. This was developed after the 1998 movie the Truman show. But I just laugh to myself as I know the cameras are out there.

summer sundays

I love summer. Summer for me means strawberries, sunbathing, sleeping and seaside. But most of all I love summer on a Sunday. I usually head up to my beach house on a weekend and spend the day doing all of those things with the good company of family and friends, and this Sunday was the first of the year, with many more to follow.

And when I return home, back to the city I rub coconut oil all me skin and climb onto my lovely comfy bed to paint my finger nails and eat the last of the strawberries. With nice clean white linen I lie there absorbing the way the sheets feel so buttery against my salted, sun kissed skin, (thank the lord for Egyptian cotton sheets).

This weekend I also realised that summer had started to begin when I could finally use the Coconut oil that I got in Port Douglas, Australia. It has sat on my dresser for 8 months, with me waiting for the weather to be warm enough to liquefy the bottle of lard into a tropical dream and I last night I was finally able to rub the gorgeous product all over my skin. The smell of coconut and frangipanes is so intense and keeps your skin soft and fragranced all day. The smell brings back to me the story the Fijian lady who I brought it from had told me. She delightedly informed me that young Fijian women use to go into the bush at night, find the Frangipani flowers and rub the flower on their neck and place them in their hair. The scent was so strong that men could smell it from miles away and would come from villages afar to find the woman. I can believe it, this scent is so strong I can still smell it on me this morning and after my visit to Samoa earlier in the year I also believe this is so. Seeing and being introduced to small parts of the Samoan lifestyle, seeing the way they work off their instincts and still have a strong connection with their environment, their scene of the bush, it makes me understand and appreciate how this story/theory has come about.

You can but this beautiful oil online. It is only $8.50 (Australian dollars) a bottle. And they not only do they have Frangipani but a range of other scrumptious scents as well! It is made by the Banaha People. They describe themselves as the 'Forgotten People of the Pacific'. They have an amazing background of rich history that you can find out more about here.
This would make a great Christmas present that anyone who i
s going into summer will love.

On days like this I just feel like summer is here. I want to run out of the office jump on a train and take a trip to my beach house. But unfortunately it is Wednesday and still lots to do before I can run away on Saturday for the weekend. I thought I’d share these images with you as they just ooze summer for me!
